This month, let’s focus on a key design technique that adds interest, dimension, and depth to any card or layout - - shapes.
Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned papercrafter, you’re already using shapes. The question is… are you thinking about them? Are you stacking them?
So let’s play with shapes: circles, squares, triangles, rectangles, and more.
How can you stack them? How many can you stack in one design? What can you create when you start combining different shapes together?
📸 Build with shapes
Scrapbook a layout using stacked shapes in an unusual way. Play with placement, overlap, and scale. See how you can tweak your style.
✉️ Shape your cards
Create cards using stacked shapes to build backgrounds, focal points, or clusters. Mix different sizes, shapes, and colors to create something that really pops.
🎨 Have fun with layers
Use patterned paper, cardstock, vellum, or scraps from your stash. Add texture, repeat shapes, or keep it clean and simple. There’s no right or wrong way to stack them.
✂️ Combine shapes to create something special
Use different shapes and create a house, a flower, a heart, or whatever you can imagine. Let the shapes surprise you and see where they lead.
Have fun playing with the idea of stacking shapes. See where it takes you and maybe you’ll start using shapes in a whole new way.
Share your creations in our Scrapbook Fun Circle Hangout (Facebook Group) and during our Show & Tell on the last Craft and Chat of the month.
